One of two surviving buildings spared destruction in the dissolution of Cerne Abbey in 1539.
The porch is a striking structure with a two level Oriel window. Inside there are 3 floors. In the space under the porch, there are a couple of information boards outlining the building's history and revealing some truths about the abbot's conduct.
Entry to the abbey grounds costs £2.50 and also gives access to the abbey guesthouse.

The Abbots Porch was the entrance to the Abbot’s Hall of Cerne Abbey and was built in 1509. It's one of the few remaining remnants of the original Abbey and has a beautiful double oriel window carved with seals and animal figures.
